Storm 9500 OS 5.0.0.328 Spotted in the wild!

Wow! Yesterday the 9000 and the 8900 received some lovin from the 5.0 series updates, today, the 9500 is not to be out done as the crew at BlackberryOS have managed to snag a copy of the latest and greatest(?).

As with all beta releases, you upgrade at your own risk, don’t blame us when you turn your Storm in to a chew toy for your dog (or baby).

Free themes for the 95xx, 9000 and 87xx!!

In a rare showing today, the first FREE theme I want to share with you is one for you 87xx sportin Foosball Lovers out there. If you’re a Cowboys Fan (and come on, who isn’t a fan of “america’s team” besides almost everyone outside of Texas) this theme is right up your alley. The Dallas Cowboys Theme by Xtrme XJ is here and working on 87xx devices. Its a pretty basic theme that speaks for itself. If you’re a fan, you can grab it OTA.

As with all theme installs, please make sure to do a Battery Pull or hard reboot if you can.

Up next and perhaps inspired by the news of the Disney/Marvel wedding, we have a happy little Mickey Mouse theme for the Blackberry Bold from Daniel Black. The theme features some customized icons as well as backgrounds for almost every screen. Its a little on the sweet and gooey side for me, but you Mickey Fans might love it. Its a very Disney theme with customizable home screen icons. You can grab it OTA from MobiMadness!.

Last for now, we have one for the Storm (95xx). Transformers Theme by tcaemt734. The cool thing about this theme is the icon’s. The icons transformer into their respective robot forms with red and purple for the lettering. Pretty old school. Don’t you think?

Free themes for the 8900, 9000 and 9500…

So its been a couple of weeks since I posted last here (for several reason) and I thought I’d come back with a couple of free themes for you today. Starting off is a cool theme “series” for the Storm. I’m only going to feature one theme out of this series, you can decide if you want the others. The Glow Theme and Glow Sliding Top Dock Theme is a pretty nice simple looking theme for the storm. It features 10 user-defined icons on the home screen, Fast, fully working hidden docks “slide” 5 icons onto the top of the home screen (10 Icon Glow Sliding Top Dock theme only) or 4 icons onto the bottom of the home screen (Glow Hidden “L” theme only), “Clicking” the middle of the home screen between the two rows of icons launches the application menu just like on the Default Zen theme, “Clicking” the time in the banner launches the Clock application, “Clicking” the signal strength indicator in the banner launches the Manage Connections application, Hidden today feature, allowing you to see up to 10 New Emails/SMS’s or Calendar entries, Professional, clean and simple appearance with the BlackBerry Bold icons. The next theme is for the Curve 8900 (Javelin) and is a pretty snazzy number called Zulu. It features a hidden dock on both sides and bottom and features customizable icons. This is by far one of the cooler themes I’ve come across in a while. Grab it OTA

Lastly we have a theme for the Bold. Serenity Now is a peaceful looking theme that rearranges the layout of the homescreen and changes up the font a little bit. The icons are customizable and the theme is a little serene. Check it out at BlacklightThemes.

Free Theme Mayhem!

Its been a while since I posted some free themes here, (actually, its been a while since I’ve posted anything here other than an OS Update it seems). I’ve skipped the recent Bold OS’ as reports are mixed on how good they are. Anyways, I thought I would share some theme love with you today, so here goes!

First up is a cool little Green and Gold theme for the upcoming St. Patty’s Day festivities (who doesn’t like a valid reason to drink green beer?). It seems that Cherri Chiodo (of http://allthingsberry.com/) has come up with a St. Patty’s theme for anyone who thinks they’re Irish (and lets face it, on March 17th we all think we’re irish). With Custom made icons — BRAND NEW set, never seen before, Custom made meters — signal, battery, wifi, volume, Custom made wallpapers, Custom fonts, Custom menus/buttons, and True Today+ format (home screen icons are 100% customizable) this theme certainly is lucky. You can grab it OTA from PinStack.com.

Up next is a gem of a theme for the 8100, 8300, 8800 & 9000 lines. If you’re a fan of those mop top boys who took the world by storm in the 60′s then you might want to grab this Beatles Based theme by Jennifer at Cool Blackberry Themes. Its a different looking theme with the icons on the left side of the screen. Always something cool with Jennifer. You can grab it for the Bold HERE and for the 8300/8800 HERE and the 8100 HERE.

Going to end today’s free theme mayhem with TWO free themes for the storm. This first one is for you romantics out there. Riya over at Black Light Themes has created Roses for the storm. I have to say, if I had the storm (or my wife had one) I would load this theme in a minute. I love the images of the roses and the coloring on them. Add to it the functionality of the theme and you have an almost perfect theme. You have to register for a free membership at blacklightthemes, but its worth it. Grab it OTA.

And finally for the Storm, another theme from BlackLightThemes, this one from Tiffany. Futurist is a spaceship inspired theme with some pretty cool features (I wish this was available for the Bold). It’s Designed to look like a futuristic display like in a spaceship etc, Hidden Today items show up in the box when you touch the icons, Today icons are hard coded (calendar, Messages, Call Log, and Profiles) Messages and SMS are combined, The dock at the top is customizable (your top row of 4 in apps), Today Items (side dock) spring in from the left when touched, and the dock icons at the top bounce when touched and the Apps screen focus is a small blue triangle that points up to the icon. Its a really cool theme. Grab it OTA (registration required).

4.7.0.109 for the 9500 (Non-VZW) Storm!

Sorry for not posting this one sooner but I was up to my ears in paint this weekend painting a bedroom. Anyways, better late then never, here is 4.7.0.109 for the 9500. Not sure whats in this one, but according to the Forums its a good one. There are also instructions for making it work with the 9530, though we don’t recommend trying that…

4.7.0.90 FOR GSM/CDMA Spotted

Two weeks ago it was nothing but love for you bold users out there, now it seems to be the Storm’s turn for some beta lovin! Thats right, 4.7.0.90 for both the 9530 and the 9500 has been spotted in the wild. It sounds like it fixes some bugs with the camera, but other than that, we have no idea!

OS 4.7.0.88 for 9500 (GSM Storm) spotted in the Wild!

It seems like it never ends, but it is good to know that RIM is hard at working making some of the worlds best phones even better. Thats right! 4.7.0.88 for the GSM Storm (9500) has been spotted in the wild and is available for download. This is a beta release, so as usual, you upgrade at your own risk!

9500 OS: 4.7.0.87 Spotted in the wilds!

We recently posted a new firmware for the 9530 (Verizon Storm) but not the 9500 itself. Here you go all you GSM Storm Rockin people, some Firmware love for you. We don’t know what this fixes, but we’re sure whatever it is, it needed to be fixed. Note, you upgrade at your own risk!
