Change/Release your BB Pin in minutes!
Nov 19, 2009 DIY, Tips & Tricks
There comes a time in every blackberry users life when he (or she) needs to release their pin so it can go live on a farm somewhere nice with other released pins or more accurately, so they can resell their device and let the pin go too. Most of the time, users are forced to deal with their carrier and have to wait for the carrier’s drones to do it for you. Not any more. I’m going to show you how to do it in less then five minutes as long as you have a device with an available pin (or no device at all?).
First things first, you’ll need the PIN and the IMEI of the new device (you can get this by going to options and status. Couldn’t be easier) and your log in to your carrier’s BIS site. In my case, its http://att.blackberry.com.
With those in hand, pull up http://att.blackberry.com (or http://verizon.blackberry.com or rogers.blackberry.com, you get the idea right?). Log in. Once logged in, there is a menu option on the left side of the screen for Settings and under Settings is a link for Change Device. Click that link!
Here’s the hard part, all you have to do is enter the new pin and the new IMEI number and click submit. Viola!
You’ve changed devices. I’m not sure if this works if you’re changing carriers, however when changing devices on the same carrier (if you upgrade your Blackberry) it works flawlessly. Even moves your blackberry contacts, alarm settings and more.
