Leaked: 5.0.0.190 for Bold and 8900 w/ threaded SMS; 5.0.0.154 for Storm 9530; OS 5.0.0.140 for Tour!

06_wildthing39_250.jpg Wow. What a week so far. First, AT&T releases an OFFICIAL release with Visual Voicemail in it (now us Bold users can rebuff the iPhone Phans) and now, FOUR hot OS leaks for the 9000, 8900, 9630, and 9530. How about that?

The release for the Bold and Curve feature threaded SMS in it, which until now was only possible with a 3rd party app. This is a huge step forward for Blackberry users and one which many people have been clamoring for for a while. There are some other features included as well as a couple that have been dropped (no tabbed browsing at the moment). If you try it, please let us know what you think.

Please Note: Upgrading to a Beta OS can result in a bricked device. Please do this at your own risk!!

HTC Hero theme for Curve 8900, Bold and Tour!

It appears that Blackberry Themer ElyCruz is back with a vengeance this time releasing the HOT theme HTC Hero for the Curve 8900, the Bold and the Tour.

From the forum post:

Hero to the left, Hero to the right everywhere you go there is a Hero around you. EThemes take on Hero UI.
5 user define icons, Calendar, Messages and SmsMms Preview Screens, Weather Slot Icon, QuickLaunch Icon, Media Icon and Network Icon, set it up right you would never have to leave the homescreen at all!!!!!
Weather App must be the first App on your App Screen
Apps 2-6 are the 5 user define icons on the dock
Calendar, Messages and Sms/Mms cannot be your 5 user define icons since they have there own screen. It would look odd since the today part will be covering the middle icons on the dock
You wont be able to select the today part only preview the 4 entries

There are two versions for each model, one with the messages combined and one with them seperated out. The links are provided for both. If you like the theme, make sure to visit the forum posts and DONATE so that ElyCruz keeps sharing the love!

Review: Otterbox Impact for Blackberry Bold

1938-20.5 Once in a while a product comes along that you don’t think much about, but when you don’t have it, you realize you depend on it. Such it is with the The OtterBox for BlackBerry Bold Impact Series! protector. If you’re familiar with the OtterBox Defender series, you know OB builds things to last. When I got my Bold last November, one of the first things I did was look for a good protection device for it (my curve had not had one and looked like it had been to war). I knew about the defender, but I didn’t want anything quite that heavy. The defender could withstand more than an average person would throw at it.

The Impact Series though, was a new item and it looked like it could do the trick. I ordered one up and with in a week it was on the Bold.

The fit is nice and tight, it keeps things from getting around the back and it protects the device from falls under three feet fairly well (I’d try higher, but I’d rather not risk it). There are some loose areas around the keyboard opening and at the top by the top speaker, but nothing to be too worried about. This will not protect your device from sand, water or anything, but it will help keep it from scratching. Another nice feature is the screen protector they include with the case.

The cover slips on and off easily enough for those times you need to do a battery pull and stays in place when you need it to. One of the other nice features of the case is that it is somewhat non-skid. I can set it on my dashboard and it pretty much stays in place until I pick it up.

One last area that is important would be customer service. Recently, my original Impact Series was cracked. I guess my three year old had pulled it off the bold one to many times. I contacted Otterbox Support, gave them my original order number (which I had saved) and told them what the problem was, expecting to purchase a new one at a discount. The nice lady I talked to informed me that a replacement was on the way. Three days later, I had a new cover on the bold. Thats customer service.

You can pick up the The OtterBox for BlackBerry Bold Impact Series–buy now for only $19.95 from Otterbox as well as covers for most Blackberry, iPhone/iPods and other devices.

Play Cash Cab and Millionare on your Berry!

CashCab_Splash_151 If you haven’t seen Discovery Channel’s hot gameshow CASH CAB then you must be living under a rock. Ordinary people in NYC get in what they think is a cab, only to find out they’re contestants on a game show. The cab takes them where they want to go, asking questions and awarding money the whole way. Answer correctly, keep the money, get a free cab ride. Get a wrong one and they loose the money and have to pay for the ride. Its an awesome game and the questions range from easy to mind blowing.

Now you can play CASH CAB as often as you want with out leaving your couch (desk, car, etc…). From bPlay:

CASH CAB challenges players to answer a series of progressively difficult questions before they get to their destination. As the meter ticks, the questions get harder and the stakes get higher. Miss three questions, and the CASH CAB pulls over and ejects the contestants onto the curb. CASH CAB mobile features nearly 1,000 questions pulled from subjects as diverse as History, Pop Culture, Language and Science.

CASH CAB is priced at $6.99 and is available from bPlay. More photos at the end…

Also out today is the updated version of ABC’s Hit Who Wants To Be A Millionaire® 2010. If you love sitting in the hot seat and saying “That’s My Final Answer, Reig” then this is a must have as well.
