1/29 Free Theme Roundup
Jan 29, 2009 Themes
This week I have a couple of themes for you Curve and Flip Owners (the rest of you calm down, the week isn’t over yet is it?). The first is for the Curve (and of the 83xx models) and it a pretty cool looking theme from 4gezzus @ Themes4BB. Omnipresent is a Zen Sidebar theme with (what we hope are) customizable icons on the home screen. The wp is a pretty creepy looking flaming eye with some other eye catching wall papers. If you want to grab this, grab it OTA here.
The other theme today is the Pink Sunburst theme for you Flip owners. This is a little theme whipped up by Tiffany over at Black Light Themes and its a pretty psychadelic theme thats along the lines of the old Windows Light speed wall paper. Except its Pink. The icons are boldish in look and feel and its also available for the curve and a couple of other models. You can grab it OTA @ BlacklightThemes.com.

20% off @ bPlay!
Jan 29, 2009 Uncategorized
I’ve been meaning to write about two of bPlay’s new offerings for the longest time now and with the 20% off coupon that arrived in my box today, I thought today would be the perfect day. Thats right, if you use the code EMAIL20 now through Sunday (February 1st) you get 20% off your purchase. Which is great for those that want to pick up the coolest Games and themes for your BlackBerry.
First is the
NYT Crosswords game that is available. For those die hard crossword fans this game is it as it allows you to play the same crossword puzzles published daily in The New York Times on your mobile phone. There are also up to 30 classic puzzles bundled in the game. It is a subscription based game (meaning you pay monthly) but its less then the cost of a paper and you get the same fun, just on your berry. Its actually a pretty cool game. This runs $2.99 a month.
The other I wanted to talk about is probably the coolest theme thats hit the berry in a while.
Solar Slideshow is almost exactly what it says. In this theme, 10 images combined of the sun and nine planets in the solar system rotate on your screen’s background. The image changes once per 30 minutes, so your device will continually look fresh with stunning celestial imagery. The imagery is amazing, the fact that it changes is something cool too. I would bet that more themes like this will be hitting the berry soon enough (could you imagine an underwater theme like this?). You can grab it from bPlay for the regular price of $5.99 but if you do it today you can use the coupon for a 20% off discount!

Jan 28, 2009 Firmware
I’ll make this one look pretty in the am, but it appears that 4.6.0.228 for the Bold has been leaked!!

You know the drill!!
Edit: It seems that the volume issue from prior releases is there (there’s an on going debate as to whether or not its a bug or a feature) and some have reported the browser rendering slower. Let us know what you find!
Lets Talk Later
Jan 27, 2009 Apps
I am not really a list/task oriented person. Ask my wife (who happens to LOVE lists). She’ll tell you the same. However an app that I can set to remind me to call the Kennel about the dog’s pending visit or my kids doctor’s office about scheduling a yearly check up is pretty cool in my eyes. Better even then setting an event on my calendar (as I don’t necessairly need it to show up on my Outlook calendar). That’s the goal of TalkLater by Simpleleap.
Aimed at being a simple to use call reminder utility that helps you remember those important phone calls that you need to make. The application allows you to create an alert directly from your call log, address book or within TalkLater itself, and it succeeds pretty well. Read the rest of this entry »

Twilight Theme for Blackberry Bold
Jan 21, 2009 Themes
Well, its certainly taking the nation by storm. Everywhere you go everyone from teenage girls to swooning moms are talking about Twilight (the book and movie). Well, we recently featured some twilight love for the Curve, here’s some for the Bold.
Twilight by TStan47 gives you Edward lovers a little slice of heaven. Packaged nicely, this theme features a bottom dock home screen with some custom fonts. It looks a little different than almost any other theme out there. If you want it you can grab the Zip file HERE to download via BB Desktop Manager. Sorry, no OTA link for this one.
What would you Improve?
Jan 21, 2009 Berry
An interesting thing about this time of year are the number of “Top 10 Lists” that make appearances on the web. Maybe it has something to do with starting over, but two of our daily haunts, Crackberry.com and BoyGeniusReport have come up with their lists of improvements that they’d like to see RIM make on our favorite mobile device. Of course, BGR’s was in response to their top 10 iPhone list which is actually pretty good.
Take a gander at BGR’s Top 10 Things they Hate about the Blackberry list and the Crackberry is a list of 9 OS tweaks they’d like to see made.
Personally, I find Crackberry’s to be a much better list, though I don’t have too many issues with my Bold. What about you? If you could change anything about your BB, what would it be?
BBHack OTA Links
Jan 20, 2009 Berry
We’re working on a new feature here at Blackberryhack that we think everyone would find useful. Any OTA (Over The Air) download links we post on the site (in a post or review) will be added to our OTA Links Page putting them all in one convenient and easy to find location. Now you can go there for the latest downloads in applications, games, themes or even to find the best Online Versions of your favorite sites! (have you viewed BBHack in your blackberry browser yet??)
If you have an app you want to share with the world, a theme you think that people would like or a favorite mobile site you hit daily, let us know. You can add it HERE.
Thanks and check back often!

Free Presidential Themes!
Jan 20, 2009 Themes
In honor of the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Jennifer @ CoolBlackBerryThemes has released TWO (yes, TWO!) Obama based themes. One for the Curve (83xx) and 8800 and one for the Bold (9000). Both sport images of 44 (though the Bold version has both Obama and Biden in some of the images) and feature a bottom dock on the home screen with customizable icons. The icons appear to be the now famous Bold Icons, but they fit in well with these two themes. You can grab them at CoolBlackberryThemes or OTA at the following links (posted below the images for the themes.
