So a lot (and boy do I mean a lot) of love has been shown to you bold and storm owners lately. It seems like every other day there’s a new beta leaked for those two devices. What about those rocking an older device? Well, no worries, RIM has you covered as well. A bevy of 4.5.0.x releases came out last night for you 8xxx model users and abusers. Find the links below. 4.6.0.217 for the Bold found in teh wild!

That’s right. What a way to end the year (though at the rate these things have been leaking we could see one or two more before 09 rolls in).
OS 4.6.0.217 has been spotted in the wild and reports are the usual mix of its awesome to the same old problems, so we recommend only updating if you know what you’re doing!
4.6.0.217 download it and install it at your own risk.

outages, iphones and activations

On one of the coldest days I’ve encountered yet, my loving family decided to take me to see Navy Pier in Chicago. Needless to say the iPhones being
Sold at walmart led to some apparent network outages on AT&T’s network.
It didn’t affect everyone though just those of us rocking the bold in its 3g goodness as my wife was fine on her curve. If you suffered from any interuptions, let us know, and remember, evertime an iPhone 3G is activated, a kitten is taken out….

That master theme maker is at it again with another nice Ubuntu Theme for the Bold. Consider it an early Christmas present.
The SuperUbuntu theme is an animated theme with scrolling icons across the top and a menu dock at the bottom that rotates in a circular manner. The BG is along the lines of the other Ubuntu themes already available. Now you have NO reason not to be sporting one of these super cool Ubuntu Themes.

How do I unlock my Blackberry?

You will need to know your IMEI number (found in Options->Status). Most carriers should give you your unlock code, but you may have to purchase a code from a vendor
BlackBerry 8800/8300 Curve
- Go to Settings Menu -> Options
- Select Advanced Options -> SIM Card
- Type MEPD on the keyboard (you won’t see the text)
- Type MEP then [ALT button] then 2 (again you won’t see the text)
- A prompt should come up “Enter Network MEP Code” Type in your unlock code then press the track wheel to confirm.
- The phone is now unlocked.
Bold OS 4.6.0.216 found in the wild *UPDATED LINK!*

Rumors swirled earlier today about the posibility of 4.6.0.216 for the Bold being seen (and several users on several forums already sporting it)… and tonight it came true. Happy early Christmas all you bold lovin fans. 4.6.0.216 is available for download and upgrading. No idea what the big change is, but apparently this release is a wider release then .214 or .215 so we may be getting close to another major update.

Pop-Up Blocker

Those cool cats at SmrtGuard have released a new beta of the popular PeekaWho notification tool, popup blocker! You can now decide who you want to get the popup notifications from. The interface is pretty easy to use, you add people to the white list or black list depending on your settings and viola, they’re either blocked or not.
If you haven’t been using PeekaWho or Aerize Email Alerts you should look look in to one of them. Using either tool can save you time in switching from whatever you were doing to mail just to see that Mom wrote to say she misses you (again). IF anyone’s using either PeekaWho or Aerize and would like to do a review, let us know!
MediaSync for Mac and Updated for PC

Arrrr, thats right! MediaSync for the mac has been released (finally!) and reports are that its good! Also, mediasync has been updated for the PC. The new version works just like the old still will not sync protected media from iTunes due to the DRM that apple has in place. Its a shame if you have a ton of iTunes bought songs, but otherwise, its a good way to get your playlists and tunes on the berry.
